Purchase the Encoded-Polyline ZCTA Boundary Dataset

The US Census Bureau provides ZCTA boundary data in raw form as a free download. Austin Rail Yard has converted this raw data into the standard Encoded Polyline Algorithm Format for use with Google Maps. We use this dataset internally where appropriate. We also offer this encoded dataset, along with a small example Rails app, for $199.

Please use the button below to begin the purchase process. Within 24 hours of payment, a personalized download link will be sent to the email address used for payment. You will then be able to download a 20MB zip file containing the dataset and the sample rails app. The dataset can then be easily imported using MySQL Administrator on either Windows, OS X or Linux.

The encoded-polyline dataset includes ZCTA boundary data for all 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. The encoded polyline data format is intended only for use with Google Maps. The dataset mirrors the free raw data provided by the US Census Bureau for the year 2000. Any errors in the raw data are thus reflected in the encoded-polyline version.
